How to Add Plate Type Flange Class Component in OpenPlant Modeler connect.

Background


In OpenPlant Modeler, requirement is to add Plate type flange class in schema. This wiki article explains the procedure for it. Here Slip-on Flange is considered as a base class, to allow users to place this class through it using its icon and cell & scripts inside OpenPlant Modeler connect. 

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Launch Bentley Class Editor,
  2.  For the desired workset location, select OpenPlant_3D.01.08.ecschema  & click on Open to load the schema. Supplement it with below schemas.

    OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_Modeling.01.08.ecschema
    OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_ModelingViews.01.08.ecschema
    OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_Information_3DComponent.01.08.ecschema

  3. Navigate to Slip On Flange class. Right click to Copy it as shown below




  4. Paste it on PIPE_FLANGEclass. Refer image below.


       
  5.  Rename it as desired, say PLATE_FLANGE. See image below.



  6.  Copying Classes would benefit to add other related custom attributes and properties automatically. This will also include the custom attribute from supplemented schema.

  7. Right click on Plate Flange here, select Custom Attributes > Add/Removeto add custom attribute as shown below.



  8. Add custom attribute OpenPlant _Physical_Placeable_Child_Classeson Slip OnFlange class to allow user to call new class using its icon inside OpenPlant Modeler. Edit Applied Custom Attributes Location to OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_Modeling.01.08 and save the schema changes.



  9. Navigate the newly added custom attribute OpenPlant _Physical_Placeable_Child_Classes.  Right-click on EC CLASS NAME and click on Add element as shown below


  10. Enter the EC CLASS NAME as PLATE_FLANGE as shown below.



  11. Save all the changes. 

  12. Navigate the below mention path in file explore and open mEX-OPM spec as shown below.
    C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlant CONNECT Edition\Configuration\Workspaces\OpenPlantExample\WorkSets\Metric\Standards\OpenPlant\Specs



  13.  Add entries in spec. Here Plate details are as below.
     Plate details - Type 01 EN 1092-1: 2007
     Also in case of selecting Slip On Flange type SETBACK plays an important role. Ensure COMP_LEN equal to SETBACK and both should be higher than FLNG_TH_M value. See image below



  14. Save & close all files. 
  15.  Launch OpenPlant Modeler & Verify results
  16. Click on Flange. Select plate flange from dialog box. The drop down option activated because of custom attribute used in step 9 above.



  17.  Check details in element information.



     Observe that it can be seen that Plate Flange getting reflected in element information.
