How to add Raceway Categories in Bentley Raceway and Cable Management CONNECT Edition

Product(s): Bentley Raceway & Cable Management
      Version(s): CONNECT Edition (10.xx.00.xx)
      Environment: N/A
      Area: N/A
      Subarea: N/A
      Original Author: Aadarsh Tale

    Background

There are pre defined raceway categories and values for the user to use will routing raceways in Bentley Raceway and Cable Management. When in need of a customized category, you can follow this article to learn how to create custom raceway categories.

    Steps to Accomplish

    1. Select the Options tool in Manage tab and Project Setup section.

    2. Select the Raceway Specifications and then select the tab Raceway Categories. Note: In the Categories window, the available Raceway Categories are listed. To customize the Raceway Properties dialog, the categories can be rearranged by selecting one and using the Up or Down function. The top three categories can not be changed.

    3. A manual change of the categories is possible in file SPEC_RWCategories.xml located in metadata folder e.g.
      C:\ProgramData\Bentley\BRCM CONNECT Edition\Configuration\WorkSpaces\BRCM Metric Example\Standards\BRCM\std_dataset\metadata

    4. Open that file using e.g. Editor:
Note: It will show the different Categories with it´s entries.

    5. Edit the SPEC_RWCategories.xml file using e.g. Editor and add following entries by copying an existing entry (Voltage Level):

    6. Make the required changes to other entries.
Save the SPEC_RWCategories.xml file and reopen the Options, Raceway Specification, Raceway Categories tab. It will show the new
      entries:

    7. To change the Cable Laying Methods open file SPEC_CableFill.xml in metadata folder e.g. C:\ProgramData\Bentley\BRCM CONNECT Edition\Configuration\WorkSpaces\BRCM Metric Example\Standards\BRCM\std_dataset\metadata.

    8. Add an additional Laying Method name “_Two Cable_” by copy an existing and change the par1 to 2 (max. number of cable):

    9. Save the SPEC_CableFill.xml file and reopen the Options, Raceway Specification, Raceway Categories tab. It will show the new entries:
