New and Changed in Bentley Raceway and Cable Management CONNECT Edition Update 11

The following items summarize the new feature and enhancement in the Bentley Raceway and Cable Management CONNECT Edition Update 11 release.

    Feature

    Description

    Enhanced Raceway ID Tools

    • The following enhancements were implemented in the Raceway ID Tool for easier modification and visualization:

      • Ability to delete raceway IDs in the Raceway ID tool.
      • Existing Raceway IDs are now populated in the name field of the Raceway ID dialog, so the values can be further edited.
      • The Raceway ID > View Selected Objects tool now highlights the entire raceway segment instead of just the INFOLINE.

New SDK featuring Raceway and Equipment APIs

You can now take advantage of a more comprehensive SDK to create your own custom tools and automate your design process. The new SDK enables you to do the following:

    • Place Equipment (Previously implemented).
    • Get and modify Equipment properties / user-defined attributes (UDA).
    • Replace equipment.
    • Delete equipment.
    • Place Raceway straights and parts.
    • Get and modify System, Catalog, and Raceway properties / user-defined attributes (UDA).
    • Change/Replace Raceway types and sizes.
    • Delete Raceway.

    PlantSight Integration

You now have the option to persist project data inside an iModel in PlantSight as an alternative to a SQL Server database which provides the following benefits:

    • Facilitates distributed engineering workflows, allowing users from different offices to collaborate and efficiently perform cable routing on the same project.
    • No SQL Server database is required, meaning less IT maintenance to administrate projects.

New Convenient and Expedient Parametric Content Creation Tool

Parametric Content Creation Tool is available for you to create a parametric equipment, raceway component, and supports that doesn’t require scripting expertise. You can select among 3D elements, specifying sizes, positions, and orientation through an easy-to-navigate dialog.

The parametric components you create are stored in an XML format using .pmd file and can be used by the following tools:

    • Raceway Content Creation tool allows you to select the .pmd files you have created to be used as part of a raceway system.
    • Equipment Manager allows you to select and place .pmd parametric files. This equipment can not include multiple connection points in cases where cables may enter the equipment at different locations.
    • New Support Placement tool allows you to place .pmd parametric files which can represent multiple bracket support systems for example

    New Parametric Support Placement Tool

A new Parametric Support Placement tool is added to the Raceway ribbon menu in the Supports group. This tool utilizes the new .pmd parametric supports with the ability to directly attach the supports to the ceiling or floor with a simple setting, making it fast and easy to place multiple supports.

Support for Multiple Connection Points on Equipment

You can add multiple connection points to equipment using the new Parametric Content Creation tool. You can use the "Point" primitive and set its type to "ConnectionPoint."

In essence, this feature adds junction boxes as additional connection points to the equipment. The cable list should then refer to the IDs of these connections, which would be automatically labeled as: "(equipment ID)+(Name property of Point node in POB file)." The cable routing would then identify which connection point to route a cable to.

Support for Cable Ladder with Round Rung Profile

Using the new Parametric Content Creation tool, you can define round shaped cable ladder rungs that were previously impossible.

    New Content

The following raceway content is added to the software:

    • Oglaend FTE 50 Cable Trays
    • Oglaend FTE 80 Cable Trays
    • Techline Snap Track

    New Sample Projects

New sample projects have been introduced that leverage the same Plant model as the OpenPlant Example WorkSpace to provide a consistent set of example projects for both the imperial and metric datasets and to promote interoperability between projects that require OPM and BRCM.

Replace Deprecated Tag Sets with new Item Types

Tag Sets have been deprecated in CONNECT Edition in favor of Item Types. For this reason, raceway and equipment IDs and labels now use Item Types instead of Tag Sets.

Added Configuration Variable to Allow Larger Cables to Route

Added the configuration variable BRCM_AUTOROUTE_IGNORERWHEIGHTIFNOCAP to allow larger cables to route considering the Cap Style settings.

    • If the Cap Style = 0, the larger cables are ALLOWED to route.
    • If the Cap Style = 1, the larger cables are DISALLOWED to route.

    Note:

    • If the variable BRCM_AUTOROUTE_IGNORERWHEIGHTIFNOCAP= 0, the larger cables are always DISALLOWED to route regardless the Cap Style settings.
    • If the variable BRCM_AUTOROUTE_IGNORERWHEIGHTIFNOCAP= 1, the larger cables are ALLOWED to route if the Cap Style is not defined.
