Overview.

Place User Custom Component

User Custom Components are components created in an active drawing file for use in that drawing only. They are created by using MicroStation drawing techniques to create the element(s), then using the Custom Piping Component Builder to create a single OpenPlant component from the element(s).

Custom components can be placed directly to existing Piping components using the fit-to-fit method. The placement point of the custom component is predefined when the component was created. Inline placement of custom components (which have inline ports such as tees, non-angular valves etc.) on existing Piping components is also allowed.

Custom supports can also be created and placed on existing piping components.
Note: Custom components may not be connected to existing custom components (inline custom components included).
Note: Placement of custom supports on non-linear components (elbows, etc.) is not supported.

Steps to Accomplish.

  1. Select the Place User Custom Component   option from the Custom Components gallery.
  2. Select the custom component to be placed.
  3. Select the pipe component to connect to.
Note: You can either connect to the end of a component, or insert the component into the pipe length if it is a linear component.
  4. Optional: If inserting the component into a pipe length, select the exact location for the component.
  5. Pick a rotation point for the component.
  6. Left-click to place the component.
The Custom Component Builder also allows you to create custom supports which can be placed along a length of pipe.
