Overview

This document shares a way to let OPM recognize the wafer type connection and calculate the bolt length and quantity accordingly.

Problem Description

  1. In OOTB when WAFER LUG connection is set for a butterfly valve OPM dose not recognize the connection as WAFER type and thus give wrong quantity of bolts with wrong length calculations.

  2. Notice that Two sets of bolts are been placed instead of one and OPM is not calculating the Bolt length and giving fixed length from the specs even though the setting is done such that OPM should calculate the bolt length as per the connection type

Steps to Resolve

  1. Launch Bentley Class Editor, open OpenPlant_3D.01.08.ecschema.xml and supplement OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_Modeling.01.08.ecschema.xml
  2. Search for JOINT Class
  3. Under WAFERED_LUG_JOINT rename Fastener[1] as BOLT;MACHINE_BOLT

  4. Relaunch OPM > place flanges alongside the valve , Joint Item Insertion window will appeared , notice that MACHINE BOLT length is coming as fixed length where as for BOLT OPM is calculating the length  so select the BOLT record.

  5. Verify the result.
