Background

In BRCM, the default level of the raceways is E-RACEWAY, and the default color of this level is red. In this wiki, it will be shown how to change that color by two different methods. The first method serves to change the color only in one specific file, and the second method serves to change the default color, so that all the raceways in the files created afterwards will be of the new color.

Steps to Accomplish

Method 1

  1. Open or create a new raceway file and select a raceway. Go to the properties panel as shown in the picture and notice the level of the raceway. If the default level has not been modified, it will be E-RACEWAY.
  2. In Detailed Design workflow, select the Raceway tab. Then, in the Primary group, select the Level Manager.
  3. In the level manager, click on the color square of the E-RACEWAY level. Then, select the desired color from the color palette. For the purpose of this demonstration, color number 6, plain orange, has been chosen.
  4. Notice how the color of the raceways has changed.

It is important to notice that, when a new raceway file is created after this, the color of the raceways in it will still be the default red. In order to change the default color for all the files, please follow the next method.

Method 2

  1. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Bentley\BRCM CONNECT Edition\Configuration\WorkSpaces\<WORKSPACE_IN_USE>\Standards\BRCM\std_dataset\metadata
  2. Open CADSTD_Layer.xml
  3. Navigate to the line where the "name" attribute is "E-RACEWAY". In that line, find the "color" attribute. The default value, 3, corresponds to a plain red color; change it to the desired value. For the color palette, refer to step number 3 of the previous method, there can be found the standard color palette and the number assigned to each color. For the purpose of this demonstration, color number 7, cyan blue, has been chosen. Save the file.

  4. If BRCM was open, restart it for the changes to take effect.
  5. Create a new raceway file and place a raceway. Notice the new color of the raceway.

It is important to notice that this method will work for all the files created after the change to CADSTD_Layer.xml was applied. In the files that were created before, the old color will still be present and will need to be modified via the first method shown in this wiki.
