Overview

In OpenPlant Project Administrator, setup customize schema to PlantSight , iTwin Setup Fails and display error as to "Setting up Schemas.....Failed"

Problem Description

While working in OpenPlant Project Administrator, a user has established a new PlantSight project and attempted to push the schema to iTwin. However, after associating the PlantSight project with a specific workset, the setup fails during the schema setup, displaying an error with minimal information. No specific details could be obtained from the log file.

Here are the steps to rectify such an error. These steps are applicable to the specific scenario when the setup fails while pushing the schema to iTwin.

Note-If it fails due to another issue, consider creating a new iTwin model and performing the setup.

Steps to Resolve

  1. Use any freeware tool to compare Files/Schemas, for example Beyond Compare tool.

  2. Verify all the schemas with the default where modifications have been made.

  3. To pinpoint the issue, identify the specific differences and try to replicate those changes in the default one for provisioning (Setup). In this scenario, only transfer the changes related to the EC Class.

  4. Emphasize the difference that led to the failure.

  5. In this specific case, the user has added a custom property in the OpenPlant Schema (Annotation Custom Attribute) which should not be there. Instead, it should be listed in the OpenPlant_PID.01.08.ecschema.xml.

  6. Removing the custom attribute as mentioned in steps 5 above from the specific property in Bentley Class Editor resolves the issue.

  7. If there are other scenarios, please create a case for Global Technical Support for further assistance.
