To Remove Embedded Schemas in OpenPlant DGN

Overview

In OpenPlant, sometimes schemas are embedded and cannot be deleted by the key in ecx schema delete

Problem Description

In OpenPlant Modeler, the embedded schemas cannot be deleted by the key in ecx schema delete and is showing the error "already being referenced by other ECShema"



          

Steps to Resolve

  1. Launch OpenPlant Modeler and open the problem DGN
  2. Key in ecx schema list to check how many embedded schemas


  3. Export all the schemas using the key in ecx schema export, and save into local folder


  4. Open the schemas in a text editor and find and remove all the lines that contains ECSchemaReference


  5. Save all schema files after removing the ECShema reference

  6. Go back to OpenPlant Modeler and update the schemas using the key in ecx schema update, browse for the schemas select and update one by one.
  7. Once all schemas are updated, go to File<Tools<Compress Options. Check only the Empty Cell Headers, click on Compress 


  8. Go back to the DGN and check the schemas again with the key in ecx schema list 
  9. Note - If issue still persist then feel free to reach out to Global Technical Support group.
