Background

The procedure below details how to modify the Ductile spec in a specific workset to add an Extension Length column to the Flanged Reducer records. Once the Extension Length column has been added and values are defined for the different size options, this field will display in the Specification Selection dialog when placing flanged reducers within the Ductile spec.

Steps to Accomplish

    1. Locate the Ductile.mdb file for the WorkSet you plan to define the Extension Length column for. For this example we will use the default OpenPlantImperial WorkSet located in the following location

      C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlant CONNECT Edition\Configuration\WorkSpaces\OpenPlantExample\WorkSets\Imperial\Standards\OpenPlant\Specs

    2. Double click the file to open the database and open the Reducer table.
    3. Insert a new field named EXTENSION_LEN.
    4. Define EXTENSION_LEN values for the flanged reducer records per your requirements. The result should look similar to the example below:
    5. Save the changes and close the database file.
    6. Launch OpenPlant Modeler in the OpenPlantImperial WorkSet and select Ductile spec.
    7. Place a Concentric/Eccentric Reducer. Make sure you selected that component which extension length is already define in the spec and have flanged ends.
    8. In the Spec Selection dialog select the component which has the Extension Length defined.
Note: For the Extension Length field to display, you may need to right-click in a column header pick the Select Columns option and add the Extension Length to the fields to display.
    9. Select the desired reducer from the list and continue with the normal placement procedure.
Note: If the extension length is greater than the size of the reducer the following error will display:
