    How to Modify a Specific Property Value for a Number of Different Components at Once

    Applies To
    Product(s): OpenPlant PID
    Version(s): 08.11.10.XXX (SS5) | 08.11.11.XXX (SS6)
    Environment: Windows 7/8.1/10 (64 bit)
    Area: ECProperties
    Subarea:
    Original Author: Justinas Lipnickas, Bentley Product Advantage Group

    Overview

    Changing the value of a specific EC Property for the selection of multiple P&ID components at once. The selection set usually includes components from different Classes, but they all have some common properties, like Number, Area, etc.

    Steps to Accomplish

    Option 1: Update properties using the Update Property dialog

    1. Select Items option to open and see all items on active model

    2. Select the components you would like to update either manually, or by building a search option
    3. Right click on a selection node in the Items tree, select Update Property... to launch the Update Property dialog

    4. In the dialog, change the property you need update, click Done.
      All selected components will be updated with the new property value. Also, any related annotation components will be updated if you'll leave the Update Annotation check on.

    5. Verify how it is changed

    Option 2: Editing properties in Details Grid view

    If the property you want to update was not available in the Update Component dialog, you can use Details view to update any property of the components.

    1. Open Items Tree and enable editing in the Details dialog by:
      1. Open Tree Manager;

      2. In the Repository Section Click Change...

      3. Change the Allow Editing section to Yes, select Open button and close the Tree Manager dialog
    2. Select the components you would like to update, in the Items Tree click on the Show Details button ( );

    3. You can now edit the data in all of the selected components properties.

    4. After editing, right click in the data grid view, and select to Save Changes

      Note:
      Updating properties in the Details Grid, will not update any related Annotations, so you would need to make sure to update them manually, if required.

    5. In order to update annotations you can select on each edited item manually in same Item tree or you can use Key-ins
      pid component redraw all
      pid component redraw selected
