Has anybody had problems with connecting numbers into instance data in ABD/GC?
Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. I am also not allowed to input information directly in the datagroup explorer.
The below is just me trying to input a number/string into ObjectIdentity | ID. (It's a GIF, click picture for animation.)
Hi Michael,
The ObjectIdentity_Description and also ObjectIdentity_Tag properties require strings as inputs. In GC, as commonly in C-languages, there is no automatic casting of numeric types to strings (or vice versa). Therefore, it is necessary to either cast ID to string by entering in ObjectIdentity_Description "ID.ToString()" (without the quotes), or to form ID as a string in the first place by entering in ID's Value input property '20' (including the quotes), or "20" (both forms are permitted in GC, single quotes connoting a Pascal string, double quotes a C-type string).
Then the assignment will stick.
I'll look into the current behavior that the connection does not stick. It should stick and Wall_L02 (in your case) should be decorated with a failure/error badge with a message about incorrect input types or something like that.
Regards,
Volker
I tried once again. It does connect, but it still does not work as it does not register the data in the datagroup explorer.
I have had this problem before and have actually not gotten the connection between them to work with values that I input myself. Standard values like volume and area are filled out correctly, but if I want to input something through the nodes it does not register.
It is also not possible to input values manually in the datagroup explorer.
