as the title says, I know each element I model and script in GC has a unique ID. How do I access it as I need to export it to excel?
Hello Abdelrahman,
Please have a look at this forum post Accessing Element information - GC related to the above topic.
As a workaround, you can also use Item Types and Pick-up List. You can have a look at this blog Item Types - Populating Items using Lookup Tables.
Hello Anik,
That was helpful, but yet I am not achieving what am trying to do here.
I will explain more;
creating list of nodes, let's say I have 1 node that defines 4 slabs or more. I want to attach user fields attributes or notes to each of these slabs under this node. Lets say i want to name the first slab as Slab1, the Slab2 and so on. or give it specific attribute. How do I achieve that?
Using item types means am doing it manually by OBD without using generative components.
Hi Abdelrahman,
There is no easy way of adding user fields to nodes in GC other than taking a visual programming path. For your particular case, if you are using building nodes, I would suggest you to add the user fields in the catalog items so that we can further add values in those objects using the method already discussed in the forum post https://communities.bentley.com/products/products_generativecomponents/f/generativecomponents---forum/194004/i-have-a-question-regarding-automating-parts-and-families.

Yeah, that's the method I already use. I was thinking if there is a way to use items/tag sets feature of openBuildings designer. but nevermind.
Thank you anyways.

The link you promoted for Accessing Element information - GC , seems like it's not working for me, even tho I followed the steps. What wrong did I do?
There is also a way to access the info using Expressions, apparently.
