when using cells in generative components, is it better to use a .cel file or a .dgn file?
Hello Richard,
It is not known to cause any issue. However we are testing this at our end.
why I ask , is that some cells would come into the model and others would not? these cells were all created from the same file? as you will see the onlt cells that come into the model is a file 3D_U-TROUGH 25M.DGN. ?
The cell files that you have sent via the ticket request work fine for me. Can you please an instance showing where you are facing the issue? It will be helpful narrowing down the problem.
One other thing I just thought of was we had issues once where we had placed one version of a cell as a shared cell. Then updated the cell. It then is difficult with GC to update that as you can't compress the file to remove the shared cell definition. (or at least in our experience)
We started a fresh file and it all was fine. Just copies the script over.
Maybe worth a fresh file if it is working for Alifur.
Thanks
Wayne
ok, will check it out. thanks Wayne
when I use the file 3D_U-TROUGH.DGN (as a cell library) it works ok but if I try to use the individual files (3D_U-TROUGH 22m.dgn, 3D_U-TROUGH 27m.dgn etc.) not all cell files will come in?
Hello Richard, If you look at video which is attached below , you can see that i have used the file named 3D_U-TROUGH 22m.dgn and it is working properly for me. Also i have changed the cell name, please look if you have changed the cell name accordingly or not.
yes, thanks but I was adding multiple different cells along the alignment line. for example 3D_U-Trough 22m.dgn ,3D_U-Trough 22-5m.dgn,3D_U-Trough 25m.dgn,3D_U-Trough 27m.dgn. But what was happening was, that only one type of cell would come in?
Please check whether the placement points/co-ordinates are different or similar when you are trying to add all those cell files which you have mentioned.
all cells have the exact placement point of 0,0,0 so when they are located in the model they all are correctly placed at the CS point.
Have you tried to give each of cells different placement points/co-ordinates and see whether you are facing the similar issue or not?
no I haven't as I need them to be all in the same placement / co-ordinate otherwise it doesn't work for me
