Hello
I was trying to place components along a rail track, so I attached a track, set a range, created a curve and polyline (From Elements in Range), but I got message "No elements of appropriate type within range".
I do have elements within range and the type is Complex chain\Line string.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
Hello Junqing,
Looking at your image, it seems like that the Range box is overlapping with the alignment. So can you please click in the curve input dropdown and select the Range Action as Overlap/Inside to see if its working fine.

Thanks, should've dug a little bit deeper. But it didn't give the curve within the range I defined, I'll find a way around.
I have found the element from a Civil application can 1 of 3 types, and it can take trial and error to discover which one. It can be a Polyline, a B-Spline, or Curve. Recently I discovered a 4th type which is not recognizable from one of the standard GC nodes, and therefore is very specific to a Civil application. If you find this I would recommend raising a ticket under the specific Civil application requesting it.
Thx, Eventually I found out that Curve node worked. I was sticking with Polyline because that’s the node recommended during one of Bentely workshops for 3D Alignment.
Glad you found it. I think if the string is a complex chain (made up of many curves, polylines, etc) the Curve from Element in Range does pick it up most of the time.
