Please User Defined Type

Hi GC Experts,

I am trying to expand the use of GC to place User Defined Types created in the OpenBuilding Environment. I am not sure if there is a way to place these objects and define the Parametric Definitions as shown in the below picture.

  • Hi Jaimin,

I can't recall being able to access those types directly. I suppose what I have done is create a parametric cell then place it using the Parametric Cell node and assign a catalog to that node. Would that give the result you are after?

Although I just tested that an I am not sure that works Disappointed exports but dropped the catalog info.

Maybe you need to assign the catalog to the parametric cell itself first.

    Thanks

  • Hi Wayne,

I was thinking in the same direction, using a parametric cell and assigning a catalogue and writing the parameters information into the Datagroup property. It will serve the purpose as long as it is practically possible. I haven't done too much of testing of the Parametric Cell node. Maybe something to test. In Initial testing, I found that every time I change any parameter, the node will fail and I have to do an "Update Model" to make the script work.

I could assign the Catalogue to the Parametric cell Library but I don't think it brings the Catalogue with the object when placed as a Cell. I am not 100% sure though. Let me do some testing. However, it would be great to have a Place user Define node in GC so we don't have to worry about all these Datagroup issues.
