again I'm having problems with installation.
I'm using 08.11.07.171 and I changed the standard installation path to C:\Programme\Bentley\v08.11.07.171 on a german system.
GC doesn't install with the attached message.
md5 checksum on gc08110766en.exe is 2df18272be560351d358f71c03db05f8
Hi Ingo,
nope I didn't change the config/paths. Regarding my job I have to keep at least Microstation running ;-). But tweaking the paths didn't change anything for you?
My Workspace is standard/local.
Would be great to find a solution without reinstalling all the workspace stuff, there are so much dependencies....
cheers markus
so then Jens should give us the clue:
what did he do what we didn't ? - or the other way round !
;-)
hey viob ;),
.50 & .171 runs perfectly on my machine.
gude, maggus
I think the problem is the workspace path.
When you split program and workspace like in the default settings the installer fails.
I do normally install the workspace with the product. So like Ingo
"C:\Programme\Bentley\v08.11.07.171" for program and workspace.
Then it works fine. That is why i had no error.
You can move the workspace afterwards to correct location in the network and point to it with the variables Steve mentioned.
If it is not possible to reinstall MicroStation you may tweak the registry entries before the installation and reset it afterwards.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bentley\MicroStation\{choose the correct for SS1}]
"WorkspacePath"
"WorkspacePathPrefix"
Not sure if this can fool the installer but maybe it works. But be carefull.

Employee of the month - if not year: Jens Sauer! :)
Well done. It works as you discribed. I had to uninstall Microstation first but then it was straight forward.
Thanks so much
P
so what can I say:
Bingo!
reinstalled ustn with the mentined workspace path as Jens did it, and gc installation worked.
so let's go working again...
btw: this even finally enabled me to install the gc 08.11.08.33 alpha
Jens: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bentley\MicroStation\{choose the correct for SS1}]
I installed V8i SS1 on a new Windows 7 Pro x64 computer. The above Registry key doesn't exist on my computer: it's in the Wow6432Node hive instead (see screenshot).

I am getting the same error that began this thread. Installing on an English Version on 64bit OS. Let me read through thread to see if issue was resolved for me.
I followed Jens instructions and uninstalled Microstation V8i and reinstalled with workspace in same directory along with Microstation program files. GC then installed without error. It is strange that I had installed GC the day before on another computer running WinXP_64 utilizing our office configured Microstation with split workspace. GC installed without a hitch. The next day installed on a similarly configured computer running WinXP_64 and got the error message discussed at beginning of thread. Jens advice corrects the install error. But something else is causing it since it is possible to install with a split workspace. Any solutions to offer? Combining workspace in Program Files and manually separating is not ideal. Thanks, Tom
