  • Hi,

please be aware this is Civil Programming forum, but your question seems to be about plain MicroStation. So, I recommend to move it to MicroStation forum. To move existing discussion to another forum, use More > Move tool, available under your original post.

Also, please follow the best practices and specify both product and its exact version: There were many (maybe over 30?) "V8 versions" released in the past, evolving from basic V8.0 to complex V8i (SELECTseries 10), and sometimes it's important to know the version exactly.

is there anything like that in v8?

All MicroStation versions support "MicroStation fonts", stored in rsc files. I have not V8i installed anymore (as it is not supported version now), but I think ability to apply line style to rsc fonts was removed (but do not remember when).

or is the greyscale all thats available on the v8?

Probably yes. And when not in V8, for sure in current CONNECT Edition generation.

Generally, from V8 era, TrueTypes/OpenTypes are preferred over rsc fonts, even when in some situations, simple rsc fonts are still the best ;-)
