I know this topic has been discussed many times, but I would like to see if any traction can be made to move it towards an enhancement to standard MicroStation. It is possible today to either merge entire reference files, or to selectively grab features from a reference file and copy them into your active file. I would like to request the ability to select via dialog box either a single or multiple levels to merge into your active file. Robert Thorburn at FDOT (Florida Department of Transportation) has developed such a app, but without fully incorporating their workspace environment it is very difficult to implement. Their app is called MergeLevel, and it does just what is described above. I believe based on the amount of discussion this topic has received that this would be a great enhancement to MicroStation, and hopefully one that would not require an enormous amount of time to develop. Every solution that I've seen put forward involved a very manual process of isolating the features by either turning off all unnecessary levels, and using fences/selection tools to manually copy the elements into your design file, and then take into account that you don't want these elements to shift in the x,y,z axis. Or after isolating the level using the change element attributes tool with the copy element toggle engaged to copy again what ever is in the selected or fence search criteria into your active file. Just a simple tool to merge one or multiple levels from an attached (DGN,DWG) file into your active file is all that's needed. Another idea might be to enhance the level remapping tool in level manager to include copying from a reference file level.

Hi Greg,
if you would like to have the described functionality in MicroStation, you should repost your description to MicroStation Ideas.
