[V8i SS4 VBA or C#] How to get a elevation from a Terrain Model for a specific point

Hi

Bentley Map SS4 has included a Terrain model (As far as I have understood it is the version from InRoad SS3).

Now I like to be able to utilize elevations from a Terrain model in VBA applications, how do I do that ?

I have to wishes:

1. Get the elevation for a given Northing and Easting

2. Having at straight line, getting the intersect points with triangle sides in the terrain mode

So where to begin.

Any help will be appreciated.

  • Okay No answers ! Even not from any Bentley folks

So the only solution I can see, is to export the Terrain model to LandXML. Create a C++ or C# application that reads the LandXML file, create the the triangle, edge and point data structure and do the Z-interpolation in that.
This document "www.cs.uu.nl/.../TINalg.pdf" include description of data structure for storing TIN and a strategy ("jump and walk") to identify the actual triangle or edge.

But I find it strange that there functionality available fro Bentley !
