Highlight vertex for all Elements in DGN?

Hi Karthik,

the question is what do you want to achieve, if you want to highlight the vertices only (without drag functionality) or you want to simulate choose all elements + select handles workflow when Element Selection tool is used.

As far as I know there is no key-in to switch on the handles and also what is recorded using VBA Macro Recorder doesn't work. If you want to add the elements to the selection set and to display the handles, I think you can try to use VBA wrapper around mdlSelect_addElement function and to use "drawHandles" parameter.

If you want to only highlight the vertices, in my opinion VBA is not a proper tool. Theoretically you can use transient elements, but it will be not the same and I am a bit worry about a performance. I think MicroStation handles are displayed using sprites and they are available in C++ MicroStationAPI.

         Thanks for your response. I want only highlight the vertices and i am trying VBA wrapper "mdlSelect_addElement" function its highlight the vertices fine but at the same time i am using some other tool (like PAN Tool) that time  vertices not highlight

If you want to highlight the vertices only, better solution would be to implement own "display handle" functionality, because MicroStation handles work with selection set (selected elements) only and it can be dangerous or not suited if other tools are used in the same time.

I am not sure if I understand the situation correctly, but by default during view operations (like view dragging / panning) the handles are not displayed. If you need to display the vertices positions during view operations, you have to implement own solution.

i decided to create a line element(point)  to all element vertices and change the line weight to 5 of the created line elements(points) . can you tell me this method is correct or wrong.

Anything is correct as long as it works correctly in expected environment and under defined conditions. And because I don't know your situation, I can provide some thoughts only ;-)

• To create line elements inside drawing is wrong.
• Transient Elements are old and not very flexible concept, but it's the only functionality accessible from VBA API.
• To create line elements as transient elements is acceptable (less wrong) solution, because there are no other options in VBA API.
• Be aware about transient element creation penalty, it's better to create e.g. cell with all lines inside and add it to Transient Elements at once than to add individual lines one by one.
• It can work fine for "small to normal" amount of elements, for  a huge amount of elements C++ and spritesor similar approach is much better.
• To use line weight for points (zero lenght lines) instead of e.g. creating circles or squares is good, because they will be displayed always the same without zoom dependency.

           I am not tell lying please see my attached screen shot and some results found in BE Communities but there you mention the "TransientElementContainer Object in MicroStation VBA help".

Can you check you really use MicroStation VBA help file from V8i (SELECTseries 3) installation? If check properties of my chm file, it telss it was created 14.3.2013, which is probably correct for V8i SS3. I am not sure if there is any other way as to check the version because there is no detail version information in help file written I guess.
