Is there a step by step guide to creating your first MDL Application, besides the info that comes with the MicrostationSDK.

MDL is complex: there's a lot more to it than a knowledge of C/C++. The best approach is to examine and build the examples delivered with the SDK. Read the C++ source code (the examples are almost all implemented in .cpp files). Many examples have their own command table, defined in a resource (.r) file. Examples that have a user interface define their dialogs and dialog items also in resource (.r) files.

Hi YongAn. I can't access this site. Is there any chance you could email me a copy of the articles? Dave

The Bentley Developer Network (BDN) is administered by Bentley Systems. You need to talk to the BDN administrators (bdn@bentley.com) to see if they will grant access to the BDN site.

i have found this very helpful! thank you for providing. It would be nice to have things like this the help navigate the MDL world. One issue i am seeing is the ability to create a dialog box.
Yes i know, go see the examples, but the examples to a new person dont do much but confuse them.
If there were a step-by-step process on how to create a dialog box from loading a command into MicorStation CE that would be great!
Thanks again!
Hi Steven,
it's recommended to do not reopen old threads. This one is 6 years old and its context was very different from today situation (V8i vs CE U16).

Did you search programming wiki for available resources?

Please respect the best practices and post a new question! Of course, as described in the best practices, you have to specify used product, version and also API / language, otherwise such question cannot be answered.

Jan
