[v8i API] Point cloud intensity data type

Question

Hi, 
 
 I have question about PointCloud intensity data type. Intensity is represented as short data type but most of scanner data contains intensity 
 data as float or double type , range from 0 to 1. 
 My question is how to convert one type data to another short to float and float to short.

Hi Manko, 
 
If your range is from 0 to 1 you could use the following function to scale it to a range of -32768 to 32767 : 
 
shortIntensity = (short)((floatIntensity * 65535.0) - 32768.0);
