Just wanted to make a post to hopefully help some people.
I have created a guide linked below, that walks you through how to set up a visual studio project to be used as an Addin within MicroStation.

Due to my not good English, only one article has English version, others are in Chinese. But I think Google translator can do better than me.
Hi Yongan,
Would you be able to get your guides translated to English. They would be very valuable for us English speakers.

I am not a native English speaker. I believe my English is worse than Google translator.
Perhaps try starting with this and if you have any specific queries then ask a question. If the image below isn't clear, right-click it and open in a new tab.
Mark,
why don't you give my guide a look. instead of trying to translate one. and then come back with questions.
Thanks John, will do. Was also interested in the ORD ones by Yongan, hence the queries about translation. Some good info here by you guys...
oh okay,
the intent of the guide I put together is for just setting up a addin with different windows (dockable, toolbars, tools settings...). it doesn't go into anything else.
