Hi, almost 20 years ago with MS J there were a macro that once activated pushing a button (F1) it open a window, you could select references according to a logic.
similar to the picture
any of you have some idea how to create?
Hi Davide Carnesecchi,
It would be best to know what the original Macro Name was.
In addition it would be helpful to know if by "select references by logical" if the macro: "sorted them" or "selected and highlighted" and optionally provide some "next action(s)" for the "selected references".
Can you please expand a bit more on what you or the macro were trying to accomplish?
I presume the image above is simply showing "MicroStation Reference - Nest Levels", but only within a ProjectWise context. Each product has different tools to manage and by providing some more details better recommendations can be provided.
HTH,Bob.
Hello Bob thanks for your reply.
to be honest I do not remember the name, I try to add some more details, imagine to look at the picture:
select star (star is a folder)
select b ( b is a folder)
select 2 (2 is the reference )
push load and the reference 2 is attached into MS.
You could select more than one folder and more than one reference
i work In the ship imagine to cut vertically and horizontally in order to create areas. Each areas has the same systems: pipes, ducts, cables, fittings.
I would like to add simultaneously all the pipes of 3 areas for example
So...Tell me if I am following you. I'm a road guy, so I'm going to try that terminology to see if I can wrap my head around it.
A big long project (star) has been cut into segments (A, B, C, etc.) so that each segment works in a specific area of the project. Each segment has HVAC, plumbing, wiring and so on (drawings 1, 2, 3, etc.).
It sounds as if you want a macro where you can select your project, choose one or more segments, and load all of the HVAC drawings, or the plumbing drawings or the wiring drawings - without having to navigate up and down the project folder structure to find them all manually.
Is that sort of what you are aiming for?
I don't know of any macro like this offhand, and I sure wouldn't know how to interface with ProjectWise. You'd definitely need a consistent file naming structure. But it doesn't sound impossible.

It's hard to see where ProjectWise comes into this. Are you using ProjectWise now? Which version of MicroStation do you use?
20 years ago a macro for MicroStation/J would have been written using MicroStation BASIC. Things have progressed considerably in two decades. Possibly MicroStation VBA can help.
There is a separate ProjectWise Programming Forum.

You are right I attach the structure of the database, each folders contains references, the logic of the references name is the same there is the area name, the zone number and the typology of system
Thanks I will try to go in another area
