Hello, Hope this is a good place to ask. I've been tasked to create a projectwise plugin module for our application.
I'm having a bit of trouble setting up a test server to test with. It seems I need a full server, with a domain name server running, etc.
I can setup a windows server on my workgroup, is it possible to setup a server without the need for DNS and windows domain controller?
Or maybe Bentley has a server for testing?
I'm working from home due to a lockdown, and it's getting difficult to get started.
Thanks
~Daniel
Daniel,
A bit more information about your setup would be helpful.
It is possible to setup a test server running ProjectWise Design Integration Server, etc. not on a domain, but you may run into licensing "issues". I do this often for testing, but I do it on a Virtual Machine, but my CONNECTION client user has access to all the ProjectWise software, so I don't "see" any license "issues". To get my local (host) machine to "see" the ProjectWise datasources on the virtual machine, I just edit the host file in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc on my host machine like this:
And then I add those servers into my PW Network Configuration settings on my host machine.
FWIW, in the past the ProjectWise Design Integration Server would run for 4 hours without a license before timing out, so perhaps that still works.
HTHs
Thank you!
I ended up setting the windows domain controller to ***.LOCAL
