Design Compare can be used to compare the contents between any two Microstation dgns in the content web parts. The program compares saved views to visually see, via color coding, which elements have been deleted, added, or had their style, weight, or level changed. You may use the ProjectWise Implementation Guide to set up Design Compare as it covers many install environments. The main components are Integration Server, Web Server, Publisher, and Design Compare module, which comes with the Interplot Server install.
There are a few suggestions to watch out for in the Install:
- When ProjectWise Publishing Server is installed on a 64 bit Windows Server 2008 to a 64 bit application pool site, the Design Compare must be installed to a “separate” site that uses a 32 bit application pool. Also, the Publishing web site should also be different from the Default Web site, and the Design Compare web site.
- Anonymous Authentication should be setup for all 3 sites (Default, Publisher, and Design Compare)
- Grant the local user account, that IIS is using (typically IUSR_<computername>), Read and Write permissions to the newly created directory ex. “C:\Program Files\Bentley\Design Compare\Tmp”
- When specifying the Design Compare Utility address in the ProjectWise Admin module > Datasource Properties > Settings > scroll to bottom, you will specify the port after the server name, and before the virtual directory alias ex. http://nameserver:88/PWDI
