ProjectWise Connect Edition File Limitations for a single Datasource

Hello,

We are thinking of using ProjectWise Connect Edition version 10.00.03.49 to store approx. 10 million files within a single datasource. Is this feasible or does ProjectWise have some limitations on how many files or how big of a datasource can be in size?

ProjectWise is installed on Windows 2016 Server and uses Microsoft SQL Server 2016.

  • I'd talk to your account manager to get more in depth on the issue but in general the limits of ProjectWise are the limits of the underlying systems. ProjectWise can handle the same number of files in a directory and files sizes that your Windows 2016 server can handle. The limits on tables in ProjectWise database is what SQL Server 2016 allows. 10 million documents can be easily handled by those systems.

The reason I suggest getting together with your account manager and Bentley technical people is there are probably a lot of issues besides just file sizes and database sizes you'll want to know. Network speed and latency greatly affects how usable ProjectWise is, throwing 10 million documents in a single folder will kill performance. Indexing for full text search maybe an issue that you need to handle carefully with 10 million documents, etc...
