Is it technically possible to utilise the same server as the following;
I would like to add the Web server to my current configuration of combined Gateway and Mobile device access
You can run PW Gateway, PW Web Server, and PW Web Services (mobile devices) on the same machine however, it is recommended that you do not deploy them to the same IIS website. The ProjectWise Implementation guide states:
"The IIS role services required for ProjectWise Web Server are different than those required for ProjectWise web services. If you have already installed the Web Server (IIS) role and role services required for ProjectWise Web Server, you can leave those role services on; they do not interfere with ProjectWise web services"
The Implementation guide lists what roles and features are need. Below is a link to the Implementation guide's section on Deploying ProjectWise Web Serivces
Also, all ProjectWise modules on the server need to be the same version.
Not supported but has been working for me so far. I run PW SS4 Web Server and the PW SS4 Mobile Services from the same IIS site instance. I just made sure the mobile site installed in different directories from the web server.
Of course it can be done, however the reason we mention to install on separate sites is due to application pool utilization by multiple sites. This can cause performance issues. With any of the web components, it is advised to install on separate sites.
One other note if a user calls into support with a configuration with multiples web components installed on one site, first thing we will say to move forward with resolving an issue is to separate the sites. We have seen multiple issues with that configuration.
As it was possible prior to SS4 to install publisher and webserver on to the same site, in the SS4 it will cause multiple .net errors, crash the site and even not allow for content to be published if the site even comes up.
Hope that clarify's things.
