Checkout my blog posting on Copying Emails from Exchange to ProjectWise. Hopefully you find this useful.
Great news. We run the service on multiple servers processing thousands of mail boxes. This will certainly simplify things.
Thank you Brian for the post,
So if looking at this as a project support tool, in which there is a Project Mailbox.
I would imagione this being set as a scheduled event, in which the mailbox credentials can automatically be passed, is it possible then to store the password and pass it as a parameter so this would run "silently"
Then depending on the schedule event. say every 3 hours, your HoursOld would be set a little over 3 hours 3:15 or could it be set exactly to 3 hours
Yes, you could set this as a scheduled task. I would suggest storing your Exchange password in an encrypted file which could be read at run-time. Of course, test everything prior to putting it into production.
I have been advised that basic authentication support is ending for Exchange Online:
Support should have been ending in Oct 2020, but due to COVID that date has been pushed back to some time in 2021.
Are there plans to accommodate this authentication change in the Postman Service and Copy-PWMailMessagesFromExchange ?
We have many projects using this currently.
We've got 14 datasources worldwide using that cmdlet which is a pretty small number. We probably won't do anything until it is completely broken or more widely adopted. Have you looked at the Flow (Power Automate) connector for email? I think this will be Bentley's solution to this problem long term.
