Hi, I've had a check through the command list and I don't think it exists but it might be in a command that isn't obvious, is there a way of scripting adding user lists to the granular security of the nodes in PW Admin? We use this for our different support levels and if we want to release out a new node to one of the levels it's quite time consuming to go onto 40+ datasources and do it manually, so was hoping to script it.
Thanks in advance for any replies
I was not aware that PW admin had granular security. I thought you installed the nodes you wanted the person to have.
no, right click the folder in admin, select properties and there is a granular security tab. you can add users, groups or user lists to it. You can grant Change Permissions, Change Settings or No Access.
Note that a person must be in the Restricted Administrators group or they can't log in from the administrator tool, but you don't have to use the Restricted Administrators group in the granular security tab.
Basically being in Restricted Administrators gets you read-only, being in the granular security group gets you the ability to change things (unless you have No Access to it)
oh, there is no power shell way to modify the Granular Security tabs in admin. If there is already a user list or group applied you can use powershell to add people to that group/list but you can't modify the security in the tab.
We may be able to add this functionality. Let me look into it. I'll keep you posted.
Fantastic, thanks Brian
