To be as fast as possible Get-PWDocumentsBySearch only populates the DocumentUpdate date by default. But it seems like a waste to use -Slow when you just want dates, so would it be possible that when the medium speed option -PopulatePath is specified to also return the dates for CreateDate, FileUpdateDate, and DocumentUpdateDate?
Or alternatively add a -PopulateDates option that fills in just those attributes. If both path and dates are needed, use both options.
Definitely would like to see this added... A -PopulateDates flag would be very useful if it adds overhead, otherwise should be included in the main search by default since the date gets filled with a generic 01/01/0001 12:00 AM value otherwise which is just weird to see
Turns out the proposed updates may cause a performance hit on large datasets. Going to rework and update at a later date. I apologize for the confusion.
That's great news! Are you be able to share the dll's with me? I'm working on a script right now that would really benefit from it, have to interrogate nearly 1tb of file update dates lol.
Thanks Brian, appreciate the update. I'll make do for now with the current script that I have that is working (but slow), and wait for your updated module. I tried digging into the PW API for this one but got pretty lost with how to run a document search and also retrieve the file update dates!Cheers,Ed
