How do I create a version of the file in the same state that the original file is in?
There are a few settings you might consider for versions:Taken from the PW Administrator Help under Settings tab of the Datasource Properties dialog (Datasource Settings)
Generate version string for first document version — New and imported documents will be assigned a version string (default uses an alpha character - A, B, C, and so on). For more information, see Settings tab of the User Properties dialog.
Use numeric version strings — Select to use a numeric string rather than the default of an alpha character. If this option is checked, you may specify the numeric string to be used. Double-click the # icon to set the version string prefix.
Put created version into first workflow state having create permission — If on, when a user creates a new version of a document, the new version will be assigned to the first state in the workflow to which that the user has create privileges. For example, if a user has read/write privileges to state 1 and read/write/create privileges to state 2, and the original document is in state 1, the new document version will be automatically be placed in state 2.
Use current state if create permission is granted — If the previous option is checked this option becomes available. If on, a new version will be created in the current folder state if the user has create privileges. For example, if a user has read/write/create privileges to state 1 and read/write/create privileges to state 3, and the original document is in state 3, the new document version will be assigned to state 3 not state 1.
Document having versions can be moved — If on, users can move documents that have versions. If off, documents with versions cannot be moved.
