I had a user send me a screen capture of the error message she was getting. I then found the Wiki Article on the Timeout error.
I had her open a command prompt and enter a DIR/X and it showed that she already has the 8.3 filename enabled.
It has been a few months since she got this PC and this was the first time she had tried running the IPLOT Organizer. It seems unlikely that the 8.3 was enabled recently, requiring any special treatment for IPLOT so are there other reasons that this same error message might appear?
TIMEOUT can also be caused by the data existing inside the file. Check the following-
Does the file take too long to open on MicroStation?
When the file opens in MicroStation, do you find any error messages in the Message Center?
You can try Compress on the file and its references first and then plot using IPLOT. See if that helps you.
This is a reply to a two year old post. I don't even know if we still have IPLOT installed anywhere. We rolled out Windows 10 after this and clearly I have no new reports of problems.
