    Navigator 8.9.5.xx and V8i integration - Redline

I'm testing using Navigator as my redlining tool in a V8i environment and am getting a wierd behavior. Whenever I create or open a redline file from PWExplorer, the document view 1 (if 3D) is automatically thrown into an isometric view and the rendering mode is changed to Smooth Shading.

I've tried using a VBA to undo this (top view and wireframe render mode), but whatever is causing this is trumping my VBA.

The peculiar thing is, when I redline a file off my local harddrive (not served from Projectwise Explorer) it doesn't do this at all.

Anyone see this before and know a way to disable it?

      Stephen,

The behavior you are seeing where Navigator is opening into an Isometric Rendered view is the designed behavior (gets the lay person ready and rolling for walkrthroughs etc...).  If you don't want this behavior you can set the variable MS_AUTO_VIEW_SETUP=0 in your configurations.  This will disable the Isometric rendered view, and the filw will open up in the last saved view setup just as in normal MS.

Not sure why you don't see this same thing when not using PW - unless possibly in that setup you have the MS_AUTO_VIEW_SETUP variable already defined.

Let me know if you need any further assistance.

      ~Paul

That did the trick, not sure why it wasn't doing it from local either since the workspace was standard installation... but it's working way i need it now, thank you very much.

I am also experiencing problems. I am running Navigator (08.09.05.70) and ProjectWise Explorer V8i (08.11.05.16).

When I open a file for redline from PW Explorer, Navigator opens, but never prompts for the creation of the redline file and no redline task palette shows.

I believe it is a problem with my Navigator configuration because I can open navigator on it's own and select "redline" as my user profile, but I still get no redline task tools. I have searched the help file and even tried to re-create the task menu, but I don't have the option to "customize" my workspace as indicated by the Navigator help file.

      Below is my redline.ucf

      Todd,

Sounds like you have 2 issues to work through.

First - in a non-PW session (and PW too) you don't get the Redline Tasks:  When in your Redline workspace - if you are in a file and go to Workspace>About Workspace - what are the values?  Are you using the delivered "Examples" UCF? or one of your own?

Second - in a PW Session it is not prompting to create the RDL.  WHen in a PW session of Navigator - if you select File>Open - does it bring you to your file system or to your PW Datasource?

      Todd,

I just saw your earlier post - and as Joe mentioned, it may be that you are not running with a valid Navigator License - at which point after 30 days, we open the application as ViewOnly regardless of the chosen interface   You can check from Help>About Navigator to see if you are licensed; or from Utilities>License Management   ->  Tools>Activation Status
