    All,

If you are interested in learning about what ProjectWise can do for Autodesk Revit users, take a look at the 30 minute BE Connected session on this topic at http://connected.bentley.com/viewSeminars.aspx?BEC_SS_ID=305.

Look for more videos and video presentations on this topic coming in the near future.

    Enjoy

There's an interesting file transfer scenario in the presentation showing DFT verses hardware (Riverbed?).  It would have been great to see one more test using DFT with hardware.  I still don't believe adding harware to DFT would have much impact.

The whole Revit/ProjectWise connection is very interesting to me.  Bentley has certainly put some major development into this relationship.

Mark, would you say that ProjectWIse has become the document management application of choice in both Bentley and Autodesk firms?

By the way, in the last few years the local community college (where I sit on the advisory board) has reformed their CAD program around BIM and Revit.  I think it's time I attend some of those courses to better understand the software.

      Scott,

You are correct the combination of DFT and hardware acceleration is a minor improvement over each independently.  However combined with the fact you don't need hardware for DFT and PW Caching Servers, ProjectWise provides some unique benefits you don't get from a hardware solution including working across organizational boundaries.  ProjectWise's approach supporting the Revit worksharing mode of operations is unique to the industry, while other applications can store RVTs none of them can do that when working with Revit Central Files(that I am aware of).

ProjectWise is indeed the engineering content management and collaboration standard for many organizations using Bentley and/or Autodesk applications and especially those that use a combination of design applications and have project team distributed across multiple locations.  The addition of Revit support re-inforces our commitment to addressing the problems of project teams running a variety of design applications, trying our best to ensure that those project teams can use the tools that best address the needs of their project vs the ones that work with their content management solution.  Of course we are not perfect, but we will continue to focus our resources in this area.

      HTH,

      John
