    Imodel errors from sat/autocad files

We use autocad 3d models extensively and a lot of the models display correctly in Microstation shaded modes but when an I-model is created and viewed in Microstation or Bentley View or Navigator  there are parts missing or they are shown in wireframe.  See the top of the vessel in the two screen shots.  The complete one is from Micrstation with the autocad file referenced in and displaying correctly.  The other one is the imodel and the top and bottom are missing.

From your description looks like some objects are not published correctly. What version of MicroStation you have used?

Would you be able to share your model (DWG + published i-model *.i.dgn)? If you do not what to share whole model, you may leave only faulting parts in it. If it is confidential you may upload to our Be Communities Secure File Upload

      Hi Darius,

Using Microstation 08.11.09.459 THe files are big so will put on the secure upload for you to have a look.

      Hi Andrew,

I have seen similar issues, already reported to product developers.

      Try the following:
Open your mixer.dgn in MicroStation and run Key-in: publishdgn converttoxgraphics off
If you publish it now everything will look fine.

This Key-in will turn xgraphics off. To turn xgraphics on again, just use “on” instead of “off”.

      Regards,
      Darius

Andrew, keep in mind that this solution is just a workaround and not a daily used solution.

Hi Dariues, That works great thanks.  Can I ask why this would not be the default setup?  Is there are performance drop in these graphics or something?

Yes, performance is the one and of the major reason. XGraphics is basically the universal format, understandable on all platforms, and doesn't require any addition graphic handlers to generate\draw them. Moreover, the above mentioned key-in was developed just for testing purpose.

      This is a test
