ProjectWise Import from Excel - problem with creating new versions

    All,

I am trying to import files from a local drive to a ProjectWise folder using the Import from Excel tool.  The Excel file is populated correctly, however, when trying to import a new version of an existing document, I get this error:

    01/12/15 11:00:19] Creating document...
[01/12/15 11:00:19] ERROR: [ 58028 ] Error creating new document. The file name is already used in this folder. Change the file name and try again.

I have the options to create new document and create versions of existing documents checked.

Why is ProjectWise not creating a new version and giving me this error?  I thought it is meant to create a new version when the file name and name of a file being imported are the same as the file name and name of an existing document?

    Thanks for your help,

    Suzette

Hi Suzette, I found "Folder Name" column values is required to be filled in addition to the "File Name" and "Name" when creating new version. If you specify destination folder in the import wizard …

Hi Bentley team - can someone from tech support get back to me re this issue, please? We need to start bulk uploading soon, including uploading new versions of existing documents.

      Suzette:

I would double check and do a search to make sure that the files and/or versions are not already there if you tried running the import several times.  Also, put the files in order and put a version number in the spreadsheet.  The order is oldest to newest.

I have already done all of those, I even waited for a day to see if the new version appeared, but it did not. I also tried not filling in AND filling in the version number in the import spreadsheet, importing the oldest first; but using both methods, I still get the error message:

      01/12/15 11:00:19] Creating document...
[01/12/15 11:00:19] ERROR: [ 58028 ] Error creating new document. The file name is already used in this folder. Change the file name and try again.

      Hi Suzette,

I found "Folder Name" column values is required to be filled in addition to the "File Name" and "Name" when creating new version. If you specify destination folder in the import wizard (by click Browse) then type "\" in the "Folder Name" of your load sheet. "Version" column may not be mandatory. If you specify the value in "Version", then version value should not be already taken for that document yet, if you remove "Version" column out of the load sheet PW should generate next one based on your datasource setting either next Alpha or Numeric if it is set so.

      Hope this helps,
      Kestutis
