There is an Implementation guide that is delivered with Projectwise Server setup software. This document should give you all the information you need for pre-requisites, and guide you through the install of each of the services.. If you have an existing setup, then take notes of which software is installed , and then only deploy the same software on the new server.. The implementation guide gives directions for all the Projectwise software, so you will need to read carefully and only install what you need. If you are upgrading to a new version of Projectwise as well then see the very end of the implementation guide about upgrading as there are steps you will need to take in converting the database. If you are getting ready to upgrade, then I strongly suggest contacting Bentley Managed Services to help you with the process.

thanks for the reply. I've managed to install projectwise ss4 on my windows server 2008 but my next question is...how do I import all of my existing files and folders onto projectwise such as word, excel, cadd, gdn files and others?

I will need a little context here to answer this question. Is this a brand new instance of ProjectWise with no documents or folders in PW? Or did you upgrade from a previous version with a datasource that is already populated with some of your data?

The easiest way is to drag and drop the folders and or files from the desktop write into ProjectWise. However there is more to just adding folders\and files to ProjectWise. Before adding folders and files to PW, you will need to setup storage areas, environment attributes, security, etc... May I suggest you review some of the training videos on line, and or consider signing up for a ProjectWise Admin and User course.
