    Hi,

I have excel workbook containing hyperlinks of documents. All my documents are store in Projectwise. When I open my excel workbook and click the hyperlinks it open the documents from projectwise.

But when I upload same workbook into SharePoint and open it in Excel web app. and click on any of my hyperlink it does not work. Could you please help me in resolution of this issue.

    Thanks,

    Atul

      Hi David,

I checked for pluggable PW protocol in my registry and it is already present. I can browse the PW:/ url in internet explorer. But I am trying for opening same "PW:/ url" as a hyperlink from "Microsoft Excel Web App", and this is not working for me.

      Regards,
      Atul

The ProjectWise links use a proprietary ProjectWise protocol (PW://server:datasource/...) and I suspect that the ability to launch into ProjectWise Explorer is dependant on the installation of the i-Desktop integration for the application you are using to view the document.

In this case you are using a Web browser (I assume this is IE) and will require a (pluggable) protocol handler for ProjectWise to be registered to handle the PW: protocol. Such a pluggable protocol handler may or may not exist already (Bentley or someone else in the community may be able to answer that question) and it may only be applicable for internet explorer.

See this link about registering Protocol handlers.

Can you post one URL that is stored in the hyperlink for one of the none working PW links and one of the working SharePoint links ? I would expect the difference beeing there, as PW has to do some additional work when opening a linked document (user rights, checkout etc.)

      Thanks Jan,

About Excel Web App behavior, Described issue occurs only for ProjectWise hyperlink (URL) only, for other standard hyperlinks such as webpages, documents over SharePoint it works fine.

"Does not work" I mean, hyperlinked PW document does not open and also in Excel web app on click of such hyperlink, it does not perform any action.

      Hi Atul,

it looks to me like no developer issue but more the question to Microsoft support.

I have no experience with Excel web app in SharePoint, but is the described behaviour specific to ProjectWise hyperlinks (URL) only? How Excel web app works e.g. if there is a "standard" hyperlink e.g to a web page? Does it work or not?

And ... what does it mean "does not work" exactly?

      With regards,

      Jan
