imodel creation time long due to logical sets

When creating imodels we have found that although the creation of the dgn.i.dgn file is very quick when publishing as we can see the new file appear very quickly, the file been published then goes through updating the logical sets.  This can take up to 5 mins per file.

The file been published say file1.dgn has file2.dgn attached with no nesting.  This gives us what we want to see published. file1.dgn and file2.dgn are relatively small in themselves hence the imodels for these two files are relatively small.  The problem seems to be that file2.dgn does have hundreds of references attached and the imodel creation seems to look through all of these files searching for dependencies to update projectwise.

My question is, is there a way to stop this harvesting of logical sets during the imodel creation?

    TIA

    Andrew

      Hi Andrew,

Is iCS or a desktop application being used to publish the i-models? Which application? When the i-model is published outside of ProjectWise is the process relatively quick? I’ll do some research and then get back with you.

Disable the Logical Set creation process using variable MS_PUBLISHDGN_SKIP_PW_LOGICAL_SET=1, but after creating a package need to run Scan Refs for updating the logical sets for the published files manually.
