need examples of circular reference .. Civil 3D with Project Wise

    Hello,

We are battling to use Civil 3D with Project Wise (Civil 3D versions 2013, 2014 and 2015).

We experience gradual longer waits for drawings to open as more data shortcuts are created and sometimes the data shortcuts become broken (reason unknown).

Some guides indicate that the problem could be circular referencing.

Maybe the process we used for data shortcuts on the "network" cannot be used with Project Wise - ? Is that true?

We never experienced this problem with data shortcuts on the network (from years 2008 to 2014).

Is the following maybe a circular reference?

    • Start a Civil 3D data shortcuts project (CivilDSProj ZIP file)
    • Create existing ground surface DWG (A.DWG)
    • Create surface in A.DWG and add data shortcut to the CivilDSProj
    • Create road centre-line DWG (B.DWG)
    • Create alignment in B.DWG and add data shortcut to the CivilDSProj
    • Create a road design DWG (C.DWG)
    • Add data references (existing ground surface and road alignment) to C.DWG
    • Create a road top surface in C.DWG and add data shortcut to the CivilSProj

If this is not a Civil 3D circular reference then what is? Please provide an example.

    Dependency Viewer of C.DWG:

    Thanks for your patience,

    Thx for reading,

    Kevin.

I continued the process, added another road in additional file (D.DWG) .. the road in C.DWG intersects with the road in D.DWG.

From both DWG files I create top surfaces and create data shortcuts.

Then ... I add a data reference to road C Top in D.DWG .... and

I add a data reference to road D Top in C.DWG

This is a circular reference - correct?

The dependency viewer looks like this:

Where do I view the circular reference warning?
