Cannot Detach a model from managed model

    MS version 08.11.09.714

I get an error when trying to simply detach a reference file.

"You cannot detach a model from a managed model. The operation is cancelled."

Is this a known bug with this new version of Microstation? I had this version installed this week and previously never seen this error message.

I found a work-around. If you have Inroads SS2 still on your machine, open Inroads SS2 through your start menu. This clears the association of Microstation to Inroads SS4 and changes the app switch from…

'm suffering from the same issue. Any resolution on this issue? The client clearly states we are not allowed to have reference files present at time of delivery. This creates a real dilemma for our firm.

      Hope this is resolved soon.

I’m sure you have figured this out this workaround about the reference files. Before the final submittal I detach the unwanted reference files as follows:

Save the New file and verify the reference attachments are no longer present.

That will remove the unwanted reference files from the DGN. I haven’t had any issues doing this so far.

I have been opening the files in Descartes (ver 08.11.09.578) and detaching any unwanted reference files. Makes sense to open the file without loading Power Geopak or Open Roads loaded. Not an issue for me since I started doing this.
