    Disappearing Global Searches?

    Paul Patterson
Paul Patterson over 8 years ago

    Afternoon everyone,

I'm finally putting the effort into creating boat loads of saved searches in the datasources, and in our project template.

I have nested saved searches.. essentially a parent category, and when expanded, shows multiple other searches.

For some reason.. the nested (or sub-searches?), won't show, unless I create a dummy search... and then, they'll magically appear. Quite annoying.

    Example..

"By Document Status" and "By Rec'd Date" appear to have no nested sub-searches..

But.. create a "Dummy Saved Search" in each of them...and blammo.. up comes all of my nested searches.

Has anyone encountered this before? I'd prefer not to have to leave dummy saved searches in there just to expose the others.

      This still happens.

Hi Paul, I ran into the same thing on a recent project I set up. IIRC renaming (even to the same name) the searches took care of it, but I agree it is a pain.

      Hi Paul,

Do you know how this happens/how to reproduce that some nested saved searches are not being shown and only appears once 'dummy' saved search is created?

      Regards,
      Arturas Zidonis

      Paul,

I've found more information about this issue. It seems that it's a memory issue and its not fixed yet. Users have to select refresh to see all the searches after they open ProjectWise the first time., so maybe you don't need to creat 'dummy' searches to see all those searches that are not showing up.

      Arturas,

      Thanks for this.

Unfortunately, trying to communicate to the thousands of users we have that they need to refresh the node isn't terribly feasible.. nor sustainable :)

Oddly, unsure why when I leave a dummy saved search in there, the nodes show just fine. In the meantime, I'll simply leave a null search with "_" as the name..

If you can, please attach me to any CR/SR that exists for this!

      Thanks again for the info.

      Hi Scott,

I gave the rename idea a whirl, didn't fly in our environment. I've resorted to simply leaving a null search named "_" in the disappearing nodes. Not terribly elegant, but will have to do for now.

      Thanks for the reply.
