    Upgrade SQL and server change

    Hi All

    IT inform me they will upgrade our SQL along with moving databse on another server.

    below is the info I was able to get so far

    Any other advice/tips/tricks I should be aware? Do I miss a magic .exe that I can run and it will facilitate my life moving data from one location to another?

    Thank you fr any input

    Three main things to do... any other smaller tasks I should perform along those major one?

    1- Orchestration Framework Databse setup

    We need to run this to remap server/database

    2- ODBC data Source

    Run the ODBC Data Source Administrator to remap server/database

    3- Storage location

    Open the admin consol to remap/add new storage locations

      If you rename the database, then you will need to reconnect via the ODBC driver connection. If you rename the ODBC driver connection then you will need to either delete your datasource in PWadmin and recreate the connection or edit the dmskrnl.cfg file to reflect the change in the name and restart the PW integration service. In the example below the "Name" line is the name I gave to my ODBC driver connection.
      [db0]
      Description=Mydatasource
      Type=Microsoft SQL Server
      InterfaceType=ODBC
      Name=MyODBC
      DBUserName=
      DBUsrPwdDecrypt=
      DBUserPassword=

      To move the files simply copy the entire folder structure to the new location, then in PW admin repoint to the new location. You will not need to run the scan ref tool.

      Thank you Dana

      Do you see any inconvient if the database is being renamed in the process? Example previous sandard for naming database was DBSLIXXX and now we might need to name DBPPSLIXXX.

      For documents, assuming the storage area move as well, is there a tool to move the documents or a simple copy/paste between server by keeping the same folder hierarchy will be fine?

      Do you recommand to run a scan link or some sort of similar tool? once the move is done?

      Hello Luc,
      Assuming that the SQL server and the PW Integration server are two different servers, then all you need to do is remap the OF database and run the ODBC Data source admin to remap the ProjectWise database(s) to the new SQL server.
      If the storage areas are not moving, then there is no need to remap them.
