status of full text retrieval - maybe columns in DMS_DOC?

    Hello,

When the company I work for implemented Project Wise we were assisted by a consulting company.

The consulting company learnt Project Wise as they assisted us with the implementation. The consulting company did not grasp Project Wise too well, we are still battling to enable user access control after more than 12 months of implementation.

Early this year we decided to try to manage Project Wise our selves.

After about a month users complained that emails in Project Wise no longer had email properties like sent, received, subject etc.

It took me over 3 months to discover Document Processors (it was covered in about 2 minutes at the Administrator course we attended in January - I had totally forgotten this section of the course). Then it became clear that the Document Processors had been redundant since the moment we decided to manage Project Wise ourselves.

For just over a month now we have been trying to get on top of the Document Processors and to get all the documents up-to-date.

I have put together a weekly monitoring procedure to check the progress of File Extraction.

That was not difficult as it was clear which SQL tables provided the File Extraction information. According to my calculations, all Extraction will be up to date in about 20 weeks. Fortunately the rate of extraction is currently slightly faster that the rate of new documents.

I have not yet figured out how to monitor the progress of Full Text Retrieval (Indexing) for user Full Text Search in Project Wise Explorer.

Indications are that some columns in DMS_DOC provide some status information. If anybody has details, this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thx for reading,

    Kevin.

      Hello Kevin.
Please see this link. It has links to various other articles that will help you understand and optimize indexing.

Also you can see statistics about how many files have processed via the ProjectWise Administrator, right click your datasource, choose properties, statistics tab.
