Data Shortcut file not updating in

    Hi,

I am having quite an issue with viewing new data shortcuts that have been created. I'm currently using C3D 2015 and PW.

Stage 1 - In my design model I have added new networks to the data shortcut file. I then close the dwg and check in the file to PW. The 'Set working folder' is set correctly and open via the PW tab in C3D).

Stage 2 - I then open the same file on a different machine using a different user account on PW (as the information is being used across a team. Again the 'set working folder' is correct).  The data shortcuts that were created at Stage 1 do not appear.

Stage 3 - I then open the design model again on the same machine and user account as Stage 1 and I can't see the new data shortcuts.

it appears that the data shortcut file on PW doesn't update.

It's getting very confusing as the process has worked fine in the past.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

    Dave

      Hi Dave,

We are experiencing similar issues, and have found that reinstalling the integration module will fix a lot of it. Apparently, after an Autodesk update/service pack, you need to repair the integration module. It's interesting that your update to 2015 SP3 made things work better...

      Our issues are:
      1) user is not able to create shortcuts. They get a 'ProjectWise Error' message that says 'The drawing has not been saved to ProjectWise yet.' This continues despite saving and updating the server copy. Also, this is different than the normal Civil 3D message that says 'The drawing has not been saved yet.' Reinstall of the integration module fixes this, but the issue comes back. I suspect this is related to a user copying out or exporting files to work on them, although they do get the message while working on a checked-out dwg.
      2) user creates data shortcuts, but cannot see them, or another user cannot see them. This is similar to your issue. Reinstall of the integration module will fix this, but not consistently.

Also, there may be an issue with replacing source objects - PW may require a consistent ID number (handle). This means that if you replace an object with a newly-created one, while maintaining the same object name, it may break the data shortcut. I haven't confirmed this behaviour yet, but it's something to keep in mind. Civil 3D lets you maintain references by either name or ID by default.

Like you, these issues are a recent development for us. If you can, upgrade to Civil 3D 2016 - in addition to the new data shortcut manager functionality, it also doesn't require you to save the drawing in order to create a data shortcut.

I've worked directly with the Autodesk developer of data shortcuts, and have requested to engage Bentley's experts on the Civil 3D integration module - no progress there yet.
