V8i, formerly "Athens," has been released!  This monumental release is the industry's most comprehensive software portfolio ever assembled for infrastructure professionals!

According to the November 6 matrix, ProjectWise V8i will work with MicroStation 8.11.05.17, 8.09.04.51+, 8.05.02.70 and 7.01.05.03 (?!). I think for many administrators, the delta file transfer enhancement has to be the highlight of ProjectWise V8i. Will this feature work in all these supported versions of MicroStation, or only in MicroStation V8i?

Delta File Transfer is file format independent and application independent, so it will work with any file and any version of MicroStation.  Works just as well with office documents, raster files, zip files, etc.  The only issue that I would point out is with AutoCAD 2007+ DWG files.    As you may have heard elsewhere, DWG 2007 files essentially get re-written completely every time a user does a Save in AutoCAD.  This causes all of the various network optimizations technologies like Cisco or Riverbed to have to transmittal the complete file.  Do an internet search on DWG and Riverbed and you will see articles on this.  This same behavior affects our Delta File Transfer implementation.

      HTH,

       John

Thanks John, that's all great information!

Before we implemented remote caching servers we looked into Riverbed accelerators.  I wanted to test them out but IT had a bad experience with Cisco routers and denied our requests.  I understand that the Riverbed technology is much more than just delta file transfer techniques, but I still can't wait to see how much faster the process is with V8i.

Tell Gregg I think all the Athens development team members deserve a healthy Christmas Bonus.

I am looking for the ProjectWise Application Compatibility Matrix.  I have searched all of the Communites site and did not get a result that seemed like the document. Would somone please post a link to this document that we are requested to refer to often in the Implementation Guide?

      Dean,

Here is an updated link  http://communities.bentley.com/Other/Old_Site_Files/Bentley_Folders/m/projectwise/default.aspx

We will be putting a re-direct on the original link to be sure that if there are further changes it will still work.

      HTH,

      John
