Custom Toolbars in Explorer too big?

    Stephan Searles

Has anyone else tried making custom toolbars (the ones I had for XM wouldn't import correctly) an find they are about twice as tall as the "stock" ones that come already (even when all are docked across top)?

Mine seem to stack the icon/text vertically (even for a menu) instead of horizontally and it makes the UI look like ... well fugly.

Do your screenshot, save it to your local computer (using something like Paint) to JPEG, GIF, or PNG format, and when you reply, click on the Options tab, and then attach it.

      Stephen,

Just a guess here - but I think if you go to your Customized toolbar (Tools>Customize - Toolbars Tab) and highlight it in the list, then make sure the Show Text Labels is checked off - you might get the result you are expecting...

      Thank you for the screenshots.

However notice, that text is always under the icon when you choose "Show text labels"checkbox in Customize dialog for whole toolbar. It is the same behavior in XM and V8i. The only way you could create the old toolbar (text on the right) in XM was to uncheck the setting for toolbar, right click the toolbar and choose "Image and text" or "Button appearance...".

But in V8i it doesn't work to set text by right click. Am I right?

That's exactly what's missing... that right click that was in XM still but missing from V8i.

Was that by design or missed? Would be nice to have the option since all the "canned" toolbars come that size but can't be replicated (if desired) by end user... just my two cents.

Phil: Thanks, will try that next time. Luckily I had screenshots already with you all in Support from last week that I'm guessing are being passed around as I write.

It is definetly not by design. Thank you for reporting the bug.
