ProjectWise Server (DMSKRNL) WMI performance counters

Question

Hi, 
 Quick question regarding something that is causing some confusion. 
 Currently I am in the process of upgrading some of our existing servers to newer OS - 2003 R2 (32bit) to 2008 R2 (64bit). 
 The existing servers have WMI performance counters for the ProjectWise server component giving information on sessions, connections, DB connection, exceptions, etc. 
 After installing the ProjectWise server software on the server (SS2), there are no performance counters also installed. Is there a particular method or are the software components for this located elsewhere?

This has to do with the bitness of the server and the application. PW SS2 and SS3 were 32 bit applications that can run on a 64 bit server, however the counters won't be available because of this difference. Starting in SS4, PW is a 64 bit application and you will be able to see the counters on a 64 bit server. 
 
you may be able to open the 32 bit perfmon from c:\windows\syswow64 and see if they are available there, but I don't have a pre SS4 server available to test that. 
 
However if the reason you are running these counters is to investigate any sort of performance issue, let us know if there is something we can do to help with that.

On windows 2008 R2, there is a service under services.msc called: “Performance Counter DLL Host” with a description of: “Enables remote users and 64-bit processes to query performance counters provided by 32-bit DLLs. If this service is stopped, only local users and 32-bit processes will be able to query performance counters provided by 32-bit DLLs”. This service defaults to manual startup type, so if it solves the problem, set it to auto.
