Reference Drawing Moves in MicroStation after Versioning the Drawing in ProjectWise

The title pretty much sums up the problem I'm having.

I have a drawing in MicroStation with a reference of some survey data. The survey data is referenced in "Coincident World".

We received an updated survey file from the surveyor. I want to replace the old suvey file with the new one.

What I did was create a copy of the new survey file. I then renamed it to match the old survey file that is referenced into our drawings. I then moved the new file into the folder with the old file. ProjectWise informed me that another file already existed with that name and so I selected "Create a new version."

    This all worked fine.

The problem is that when I went back into my drawing that references the survey data, the file was indeed the new version, but it was located several miles from where it should have been.

I deleted the reference and referenced it in from scratch, selecting the same new version of the survey file. I chose "Coincident World" again, and now it came in fine.

    What was the issue?

This is a big problem because it means that if we update a reference file, we need to manually go into all the drawings that reference that file and re-attach the reference from scratch. If we don't do this, the file will not be located correctly.

    Any help would be appreciated!

I have not seen this problem before, does this happen every time, or was it specific to these files? It might be best to get a service request started up so someone can take a look
